Special Programmes


- The programme aims to nurture creative minds and develop skilled hands backed with deep knowledge. - In the lower years, students are trained to polish their presentation, technical and creative thinking skills. - Students are exposed to formal scientific literature and current research topics. - In the senior years, students have to embark on compulsory Advanced Research Projects in the domains of math, science or engineering as individuals or up to groups of threes. They are either mentored by our own teachers, or by researchers from universities and research institutions.	- The programme introduces selected students to the complexities involved in engineering a space satellite system with flight control, power management, signalling processing and communications capabilities. - It gives students the first exposure on the issues that are typically faced by engineers when they design and build a system which can be deployed into space. - One of the goals of the programme is to co-develop and launch a nano-satellite.

- The Year 5 Boarding Programme is a platform to develop character and promote bonding among students over a full year of boarding. - The programme aims to help students acquire life-skills, cultivate friendships, develop leadership capacity and grow intellectual curiosity. - The special features introduced to support the programme are enrichment activities, extended time & space for research, academic coaching, extended leadership opportunities and student initiated activities.	- The ATLAS Initiative aims to nurture and prepare students with an interest in leadership in community and public service through the close mentoring by educators with backgrounds in teaching, talent development, student leadership, public speaking, higher education and scholarships. The initiative represents: - Exploration : Students will seek to better understand their interests, strengths, and areas for improvement - Possibility and Growth : Students will be encouraged to chart their own developmental map - Service : Students are encouraged to discover and undertake service and leadership

Student Interest Groups (SIGs)

SIGs are a unique feature of NUS High. A ground-up initiative from the students, these groups pull together like minded students passionate in their respective fields. SIGs are vibrant communities that incubate and birth new ideas, experiments and projects beyond the formal curriculum. Supported by the staff in our academic departments, the SIGs help to promote wonderment in their disciplines not just within the school’s community, they also are an invaluable help with the school’s outreach to the external community.
